ORGL 500 Organizational Leadership

With a focus on self-reflection, this course develops the student’s perceptions and insights into the neurosis, oppression, addictive segmentalism, and other leadership behaviors that contribute to organizational dysfunction. It then explores the characteristics of effective leadership, and the skills and abilities required to be an effective leader. The course culminates with the development of a personal leadership philosophy based on the student’s learned insights into effective and disruptive leadership. The student produces three papers in which organizational dysfunction is explored, a real-world example of an organizational problem is interpreted and solutions proffered through the five organizational frames, and finally, a leadership philosophy is developed as interpreted through the course context and materials.
